Introduction: Hu Xueyan Memorial Hall is located in Jixi County. The memorial hall covers an area of about 800 square meters and includes two courtyards. The original site is the Wenchang Hall built in the Ming Dynasty.
Hu Xueyan is regarded as a saint in the eyes of businessmen, a model of starting from scratch, a representative of Huizhou merchants with immense wealth, an able official who has made great contributions to resisting foreign aggression. He is the only merchant in Chinese history who wore a yellow mandarin jacket and rode a horse into the Forbidden City. He can be called the only red-topped merchant in Chinese history. The memorial hall allows people to observe his rise and fall, examine his strengths and weaknesses, so that contemporary operators can take warning. Hangzhou ‘Hu Qingyu Hall’ provides thousands of kinds of Chinese patent medicines, and hires traditional Chinese medicine experts to sit in the hall to provide services for visitors.
