Known as “Huadong’s First Rafting”, the Shilongxi Rubber Boat Rafting in Dehua is about 4 kilometers in total length and lasts nearly 3 hours. Along the way, the woods are dense, wild animals are in groups, the stream water is clear, the current is rapid, and there is a large drop. There are 69 bends and 88 rapids points.
Tourists can form groups of two or three, paddle the water, and go downstream along the stream. There are rough waves, but it is exciting yet safe, allowing people to enjoy themselves freely.
The Shilongxi River originates at the foot of Shiniu Mountain. It converges the waters of six mountain streams from Shiniu Mountain and Qihe Mountain and flows westward through Tadou to merge with Taoxian Creek, with a total length of 12 kilometers.
Here, the water is like flying pearls and splashing jade in the rapid sections, and like the waves of a silver lake in the gentle sections. It is well-arranged and makes a pleasant sound. The stream water is crystal clear, and the whole stream is set off by the primeval forest.
The mountains here are winding, rolling, continuous, different in height, and in various shapes. With overlapping peaks and lush forests, the whole mountain is filled with the atmosphere of the primeval forest.
There are a wide variety of flowers here, competing with each other for beauty. The flower species include chrysanthemums, azaleas, lilies, camellias, orchids, etc.
Among the animals here, in addition to pheasants, hares, wild boars, etc., there are also precious pangolins, pythons, muntjacs (commonly known as mountain muntjacs), goral (commonly known as mountain goats), and leopards.
Among the trees here, there are firs, pines and cypresses, camphor trees, maple trees, as well as precious fragrant firewood, redwoods and other tree species.
Among the plants here, there are both “Mahonia fortunei”, osmanthus fragrans, etc. that can be used as medicine, and the rare national protected plant – Alsophila spinulosa.
Nancheng Taohuadao is 27 kilometers away from the county seat. There are fruit trees such as peach trees, passion fruits, and bayberries planted on the island. There are also century-old camphor trees, welcoming pine trees, lover trees where two trees embrace each other, Egret Island, and the religious resort Dazhou Palace. There are also historical sites such as Diaobingzhai and Lidingsai, where Su Shiwan resisted the Yuan Dynasty, around it.
The ecological environment around Shilongxi Rafting is well protected. The water quality is clear. There are towering ancient trees on both sides along the stream and against the mountains, and the mountains are covered with dense forests. Egrets gather in groups. It is well-known in Quanzhou, Xiamen and Fuzhou areas, and there are many tourists who come here attracted by its reputation.
