Like most old lanes in Shanghai, the entrance to the lanes of Huaihai Middle Road is lined with tall, old apartments. Inside, the lanes feature entire buildings of Xin Li style, characterized by a unified architectural style, linear layout, simple facades, cement mortar finishes, and geometric pattern decorations in some areas, all of which present a modernist aesthetic.
Protruding balconies are found in the middle part of the units on the 2nd and 3rd floors, with corresponding semicircular windows on both sides. The ground floor boasts small courtyards. These lanes are spacious, featuring dual carriageways, and some layouts even include garages.
Access to the lanes is open all day, every day, from January 1st to December 31st.
