Huandao Road is built along the coast and there are numerous scenic spots along the way. Walking on the quiet wooden plank road, the nearby beach, the distant sea water and the sea view set off by sunrise and sunset are so captivating that one finds it hard to move on. You can also rent a bicycle and ride, feeling the sea breeze on your face, which has a unique charm. Huandao Road is about 31 kilometers in total.
Locals also call it the Five-color Road: blue sea, golden sand, green grassland, red runway, and gray highway. There are many scenic spots along the way, such as Hulishan Fortress, Yefengzhai, International Convention and Exhibition Center, Wuyuan Bay, etc. These scenic spots are very beautiful. The section of coastline from Xiamen University to the Convention and Exhibition Center is called the ‘Golden Coastline’. Huandao Road has sparse tourists in the early morning or evening, and the temperature is suitable. It is very suitable for cycling and sightseeing. It doesn’t matter where you start cycling. Anywhere can be the starting point. Just keep going forward along Huandao Road. Cycling is a great way to relieve stress for many people, not to mention there is such a beautiful environment around. You can see the sea right next to you. You can enjoy the sea breeze and look at the flowers and plants on the roadside. Even if you don’t deliberately look for any scenic spots, you will still think life is wonderful.Recommended cycling routes on Huandao Road: 1. Baicheng of Xiamen University – Huandao South Road – Huandao East Road – Wuyuan Bay Bridge – North Beach of Wuyuan Bay; 2. Baicheng of Xiamen University – Hulishan Fortress – Zengcuoan – Yefengzhai – Convention and Exhibition Center – Guanyinshan Beach – Wuyuan Bay. The section from Yefengzhai to the Convention and Exhibition Center is relatively more beautiful, and it takes about 40 minutes to ride by bike. Of course, you can also start from any point in the middle. Just bring your pleasant mood. Hulishan Fortress is the starting point of the wooden plank road on Huandao Road. The bronze statue of marathon runners is located on the lawn on Huandao East Road.
