Huanghua Mountain National Forest Park is the only national forest park on an island in the country, primarily known for its natural mountain and forest charm. Covering an area of 20,600 acres, it is traversed by the Tropic of Cancer. Surrounded by the sea on three sides, the park is characterized by overlapping mountains, lush forests, and peculiar rocks, with an abundance of natural resources and cultural landscapes.

Popular attractions within Huanghua Mountain National Forest Park include: Jianshan Sunrise, Changshan Sunset, Turtle Field Scenic Area, Cliff Inscriptions, Tunnel Exploration, Fengzhou Husband Watching, Qianlai Garden, Anti-Japanese War Memorial, and the Educated Youths’ Old Site.

The park is home to over 1440 species of tropical and subtropical plants from 102 families, including the living fossil plant, bamboo cypress, and rare plants such as fine-leaf grape and boxwood, which are treasured both domestically and internationally. It also hosts more than 40 species of nationally protected wild animals, such as yellow-billed egrets, pythons, and three-striped box turtles, earning it the reputation of being a ‘Natural Botanical Garden on the South China Sea’ among experts and scholars worldwide.
