Huangjing Temple is located at the Huangjing Valley on Qifeng Mountain, at the junction of Longshan and Jiaotou on Liuheng Island. The valley is named after the dense growth of yellow brambles on the mountain. The history of Huangjing Temple dates back to the late Ming and early Qing dynasties when villagers from Shizhutou farmed the land in the hills of Qifeng Mountain and unearthed a stone tablet measuring 40 centimeters in length and 20 centimeters in width, inscribed with the four characters ‘Huangjing Zen Temple’, hence the name. According to folk surveys, Huangjing Temple was built in the sixteenth year of the Wanli era of the Ming Dynasty (1588) and has a history of over 400 years. The opening hours and business status are subject to the daily opening conditions.
