Huanglong Island is shaped like an open paulownia leaf. The main bays are the south and north harbors. The ridges are winding and connected. The highest point is the top of Shiwu Gang in the middle, with an altitude of 223.5 meters, ranking as the second highest peak among the Shengsi Islands. There are two islands, large and small Huanglong. They face each other from east to west and are only separated by a waterway of 500 meters.
Dahuanglong Island is located 12.6 kilometers southeast of Caiyuan Town and is 4.5 kilometers away from the near shore of Si Jiao Shan Island. In ancient times, it had names such as Deep Water Mountain, Ingot Mountain, Stone Knife Mountain and Huanglong Mountain. Dahuanglong Island is the seat of Huanglong Township Government of Shengsi County. It is named after its majestic mountains and yellow soil, which from a distance looks like a yellow dragon coiling around the sea. Xiaohuanglong Island has an area of 0.89 square kilometers and is located on the west side of Dahuanglong Island. The peaks and rock formations on the island are stacked one after another, looking like a soaring dragon. On clear summer days, from a distance, it seems that there is curling smoke.
