Huangyangjie, also known as ‘Wangyangjie’, is located to the north of Ciping. The famous Huangyangjie Defense Battle took place here. The lines ‘The sound of cannons rumbles on Huangyangjie.’ and ‘After passing Huangyangjie, there is no need to look at dangerous places.’ have made Huangyangjie widely known. Here, not only are the mountains steep, but there are also many old sites and relics. Students in Red Army uniforms can often be seen coming in lines to receive red education. As a scenic area, Huangyangjie not only includes the famous Huangyangjie outpost, but also the southern Baiyuzhu Garden, Jinggangshan Mint, Dajing, Jingzhushan, etc., which are also within the scope of the scenic area. The scenic area sightseeing buses A and B departing from the Ciping terminal stop at most of these attractions. Therefore, people usually start in the morning and take a bus to Huangyangjie, and then visit Baiyuzhu Garden (Mint)-Dajing and so on along the driving route. If there is enough time, one can also take the special line from Dajing to Jingzhushan. The tourist service center at the foot of Huangyangjie is the first stop for visiting. Inside, there is a simple display of pictures and materials about the Huangyangjie Defense Battle. On the second floor, one can watch the 4D movie ‘The Defense Battle of Huangyangjie’, which can be chosen according to personal preference. It takes about half an hour to walk from the service center to the Huangyangjie outpost on the top of the mountain. When reaching the top of the mountain, the first thing that catches the eye is a huge monument wall with the three characters ‘Huangyangjie’ on it. In fact, there are not many relics on the top of the mountain, and it can be browsed in 20 minutes. The famous ones are the victory monument of the Huangyangjie Defense Battle and the old site of the Huangyangjie outpost barracks. The trenches of that year are somewhat unrecognizable. However, on the stone tablet below the cannon is engraved with ‘The sound of cannons rumbles on Huangyangjie’, recording the history of continuous artillery fire here. Many tourists take pictures here as souvenirs. If you look down the mountain, you will see continuous green mountains everywhere, and the scenery is very beautiful. A small path winds down the mountain. This path is about 3 kilometers long and leads to Yuanquancun. Generally, tourists will just look around on the mountain. If one wants to go down and experience it, it is better to return the same way to find the way more easily and take a sightseeing bus to the later attractions. It is about a 10-minute drive from Huangyangjie to Baiyuzhu Garden. Here, the bamboo forest is lush, and there are small pavilions where one can take a rest. The adjacent mint is regarded as the predecessor of the People’s Bank of China. At the entrance of the yellow hut, there is a huge sculpture of a Mexican silver dollar. There is a ‘worker’ character on the bird’s wing, representing that it was made by the Workers’ and Peasants’ Red Army. Inside the hut, one can see the tools used for minting and the silver dollars made at that time.
