In March 2016, Dianchi Tourism is set to launch the Huaxia Peony Garden, a flower exposition park that draws on the cultural heritage of the birthplace of Chinese landscape peonies and the profound historical and cultural background of a thousand-year-old county and the hometown of peonies. It is a flower park with high mountain karst topography and is currently a distinctive high mountain peony flower park in the southwestern region. Its original village, Tongji Village, was visited by the Tang Dynasty poet Bai Juyi. It is a spiritual haven for祈求仕途一帆风顺, as it features a natural spectacle known as “Guanmao Mountain.”
Located in Tongji Village, Chengxi Town, Dianchi County, Chongqing City, Huaxia Peony Garden covers an area of over 8,000 acres, with the first phase of construction covering more than 2,000 acres. It currently has more than 20,000 peony plants, including six top-grade peonies over a hundred years old. There are over 9,000 Huaxia Red peonies and more than 40 varieties of fine peonies, plus the original Taiping Red peonies covering more than 1,000 acres. The rich variety of peonies offers visitors a unique visual feast. The scenic area boasts 10 kilometers of ecological sightseeing pedestrian paths, allowing visitors to exercise while enjoying the spectacular peony sea; it has three characteristic viewing platforms, enabling visitors to directly appreciate the beautiful combination of high mountain karst topography and peony sea, and witness the stunning visual effects of nine major color series. The park’s six scenes – “Eagle Protecting Flowers,” “Gong Sounds and Blossoms,” “Flowers with Stone Dragon,” “Bai Gong Chanting Poems,” “Official Hat as Mountain,” and “Scholar Leaving the Mountain” – are uniquely designed, each with a story related to peonies or local Dianchi culture. Each scene has its own characteristic and story, making them vivid and captivating. It features a 245-meter-long high mountain cable slide for interactive entertainment experiences, allowing visitors to gain a challenging visual experience while flying amidst the sea of flowers. Inside the scenic area, carving experts from the Dazu Rock Carvings Research Institute have engraved poems related to peonies from various dynasties, written by calligraphers, on many rocks and steles. These poems, written by more than 20 well-known domestic calligraphers, are powerful and lifelike. They are all poems from various dynasties praising peonies and poems written by celebrities about Dianchi. Immersed in the sea of flowers, visitors can appreciate the poetry and calligraphy art while appreciating the peonies, which is sure to be delightful and memorable.
