Huguo Temple Vajra Hall is located in Huguo Temple East Alley, Xicheng District, Beijing. Huguo Temple was first established in the 21st year of the Yuan Dynasty (1284) and is also known as the Western Temple, corresponding to the Eastern Temple Longfu Temple. It was once a famous Buddhist temple in the capital. The existing Vajra Hall is one of the few remaining structures of the original Huguo Temple, which also includes Wuliang Hall, Merit Hall, Bodhisattva Hall, monks’ quarters, and corridors. The Vajra Hall is well-preserved and is an example of Ming and Qing dynasty official-style architecture. It spans five bays in width and two bays in depth, measuring 11.3 meters in length and 24.7 meters in width, featuring a single-eave hip-and-gable roof with black glazed tiles and green trim. Visitors can still admire decorative elements such as the main ridge ornaments, hanging beasts, supporting beasts, and immortals walking beasts inside the hall. When visiting Beijing’s Huguo Temple to taste local snacks, it is also a good choice to take a detour to appreciate this ancient building filled with historical charm. Opening hours are subject to the daily operational status.
