Huiri Zen Temple, formerly known as Huiri Hermitage, is located in Dongyi Village, Zhanqi Town, Yinzhou District. The temple was originally built during the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty, which dates back more than four hundred years. It is said to have been constructed by a member of the Xie family, known as Tai Gong, from the Shenglixiang clan in Dongyi Village, Zhanqi Town, Yinzhou District, Ningbo City.
Huiri Zen Temple is nestled against the ancient Tian Tong Zen Temple and the King Asoka Temple, which have stood for a millennium. The entire temple is resplendent and majestic, with a garden, a pagoda, and three bridges outside, and two corridors, three main halls, and four monastic dormitories inside. Additionally, it features halls for bodhisattvas, pavilions, ponds, lawns, and flower beds.
