Huiwen Academy is located in the Dongxi Cave Scenic Area of Nan雁荡 Mountain. It was originally the place where brothers Chen Jingzheng and Chen Jingbang studied in the Northern Song Dynasty. Later, Zhu Xi led many disciples to give lectures here. It was rebuilt in the Guangxu period of the late Qing Dynasty. Sun Yiyan, a scholar in the late Qing Dynasty, inscribed the plaque and couplets. The couplet reads: ‘Respecting begins with the subtle words of Yiluo. The predecessors in Yongjia read a lot.’ It still exists today. Beside it are scenic spots such as Listening to the Poet Old Man, Inkstone Washing Pool, and the rock inscription ‘The First Spring in Yandang Mountain’. Opening hours: Open all year round from 8:00 to 18:00.
