Huoshaoyu Island covers a land and water area of 27 hectares. It is 900 meters long from north to south, 400 meters wide from east to west, and 34.7 meters above sea level. It descends in a scattered manner from the high point of the southern corner to the north, forming three capes. Looking westward, it resembles the Chinese official script character ‘山’ (mountain). Looking from west to east, it is quite like the English letter ‘M’. Here, the coastline is tortuous, the shore slope is steep, the geological structure is unique, and the shapes of beaches and bays are diverse. It is a beautiful tropical small island.
Huoshaoyu Island lies vertically under the Haicang Bridge. The west tower of the bridge stands at the northern end of the island. To the south, there are Tuyu Island, Houyu Island, Dayu Island, and Gulangyu Island. To the north, there are Jingtaiyu Island, Maoyu Island, and Baozhuyu Island.
