Hu Qing Yu Tang Chinese Medicine Museum is a specialized museum in China, consisting of five major parts: exhibition halls, traditional Chinese medicine workshops, health and wellness clinics, business halls, and more. It is a rare example of a Qing Dynasty architectural complex that combines the architectural excellence of the Jiangnan region in a ‘front shop, back workshop’ layout. Here, visitors can not only admire the ancient architecture but also learn a wealth of knowledge through free guided tours.
The overall architecture of Hu Qing Yu Tang resembles a crane and can be divided into ‘first entry’ and ‘second entry’ sections, arranged in a ‘front shop, back workshop’ layout. It includes departments such as the exhibition hall, workshop hall, health and wellness outpatient department, and business hall. The business hall is the Hu Qing Yu Tang Chinese Medicine Hall, founded by Hu Xueyan in the 13th year of the Tongzhi era (1874), featuring a Jiangnan residential garden layout, with exquisite materials, exquisite carvings, gorgeous decorations, and well-preserved, making it a rare example of the Qing Dynasty’s ‘front shop, back workshop’ architectural style.
Opening hours are from 08:30 to 17:00 all year round.
