Huyu Valley, part of the Taihang Mountain range, is renowned for its ‘Divine Ridge with a Thousand Peaks’. At an elevation of 850 meters, the Huyu Gorge stretches 12.5 kilometers, featuring layered peaks, clear waters, and serene valleys, with a total of 36 scenic spots. The Huyu Natural Scenic Area is a nationally recognized tourist attraction, integrating natural and cultural landscapes, including the ‘Huyu Radiant Gold’, one of the eight ancient scenic views of Yanjing.
Surrounded by mountains on three sides with an opening to the southeast, the scenic area has a unique microclimate. The valley’s rocks are steep and perilous, with numerous peculiar peaks and caves; the ravines are winding and full of strange rocks, including the exquisite Shuiquantan, Baitan Lake, Heilongtan, Kunlongtan, and Yingyuetan; and various lifelike shaped stones such as the Elephant Stone, Fan Tianyin, Qing Tianzhu, and Wang Tianhou. The beauty of Huyu Valley is further enhanced by its clear mountain springs visible throughout the area, and the reservoir at the mountain pass surrounded by peaks. The ‘Yangwei Lake’, a few dozen square meters in size, features a waterfall cascading down from a 30-meter cliff during the summer; the Shi Tan, above which is a steep valley, with water following the mountain’s contours, tumbling down with a drop of tens of meters, forming a series of cascading waters and waterfalls, creating nine natural stone pools. Huyu also boasts peculiar caves, such as ‘Wuyun Cave’, which emits clouds of mist before it rains. Opening hours are from April 1st to November 30th, 08:30 to 17:30.
