The Immortal Cave is located in Rongtang Village, Shishan Town. It is named after the legend that Taoist priests became immortals through cultivation in the cave. The Immortal Cave is divided into upper and lower sections. In the lower section, there are caves within caves and a world beyond. It is so confusing that people are extremely astonished. Most of the sections in the cave are pitch-dark, making people afraid to take a step. Only with the help of torches and flashlights can one grope for the way forward. One can see various lava stalactites hanging and sticking to the cave walls. They seem about to fall but not yet, which is astonishing. This cave is remarkable not only in its rocks but also in its water. At any time, one can hear the clear and elegant sound of water drops. Water drops falling on rocks of different textures produce different tones, forming a very beautiful melody. The upper section of the Immortal Cave is divided into dozens of lava tunnels due to collapses in many places on the cave roof. Therefore, it is also known as ‘Seventy-two Caves’. Some of these stone caves are like interconnected spider webs; some are like spacious underground restaurants; some are like bizarre castle palaces. Sunlight shines into the cave through skylights formed by the collapses of the tunnel roof, making the scenery in the dark cave clear and magnificent. Open all year round from 8:00 to 18:00.
