Inscription Monument for Zen Master Dogen’s Trip to the Song Dynasty

The Inscription Monument for Zen Master Dogen’s Trip to the Song Dynasty is located in Haishu District, Ningbo City. Erected in 1998, the back of the monument is engraved with inscriptions in Chinese and Japanese with the same content. Zen Master Dogen went to the Song Dynasty to seek Dharma. After returning to Japan, he built Eihei-ji Temple and founded the Soto School of Japanese Zen Buddhism. His deeds have become a symbol of friendly cultural exchanges between China and Japan. Open all year round and open 24 hours a day.
