Adjacent to the Haihe River, the Italian Style Area begins at the Beian Bridge. Upon approaching, the first structure that catches your eye is the towering bell tower with its distinctive spire. As you proceed, you’ll spot the intricately designed hollowed-out copper carriage, signaling your arrival at the Italian style tourist area.

Stroll leisurely along the street, admiring the red-roofed Italian-style buildings and European sculptures that line the way. Make your way to Marco Polo Square, one of the area’s landmark buildings. In the center stands a Corinthian column, atop which the goddess of peace holds an olive branch, a symbol of tranquility.

Heading west, you’ll come across the ‘Flying Lion Wishing Pool’ in Venice Square. Though it lacks the grandeur and fame of the Roman wishing pool featured in the movie ‘Roman Holiday,’ it harmoniously blends with the overall atmosphere of the Italian Style Area, evoking a subtle cinematic feel. This location has been the backdrop for many TV dramas and movies, including ‘The Founding of a Republic’ and ‘The Story of a Noble Family,’ allowing visitors to relive familiar scenes from these productions. It’s also a popular spot for couples posing for wedding photos.

Beyond the cinematic appeal, the scenic area is also home to many former residences of notable figures, adding to its historical and cultural significance. The former residence of Liang Qichao, the famous ‘Yinbing Room’, is here. The former residence of the warlord Cao Kun is now the Bohai Commodity Exchange. The former residence of Yuan Shikai and the old residence of Feng Guozhang have now been turned into restaurants. There are also the former residence of Cao Yu and the old residence of Zhang Ting’e. Visiting the Tianjin Planning Exhibition Hall, which introduces Tianjin’s history and future urban planning, is also a good choice. At night, the Italian-style buildings are lit up. The candlelight and flickering lights in western restaurants and cafes make the bars become lively. The scenery and atmosphere of the Italian Style Area are even more charming.
