Jianao Miao Village is a Miao ethnic village in Huishan Town. It is 2 kilometers away from the town center and located on the east bank of the upper reaches of Wanquan River. There are 123 households and 613 people. Since Huishan Town launched the construction of ‘Li and Miao ethnic style town’ in 2014, Jianao has become a strong point in the construction and development of rural tourism in Huishan. In 2014, it was awarded as ‘a characteristic village in Qionghai City’. In 2015, it was awarded as ‘a model village for rural tourism in China’. In building Jianao Miao ethnic characteristic village, the town Party committee and government adhere to implementing the strategic deployment of the municipal Party committee and government of ‘building a pastoral city and building a happy Qionghai’, and always follow the principle of ‘not cutting down trees, not occupying farmland, not demolishing houses, and realizing urbanization on the spot’. Incorporating Miao ethnic culture and integrating into the landscape according to the situation, characteristic scenic spots and industries such as Penglai Bay, Miao ethnic inn, bamboo garden and Miao ethnic farmhouse have been built in a planned, focused and step-by-step manner. ‘Suo Miao ethnic farmhouse’ was awarded as ‘a rural tourism farmhouse in China’, and its owner, Li Jiaquan, was awarded as ‘a leader in getting rich through rural tourism in China’. Cycling paths, suspension bridges, climbing paths and waterfall exploration are good places to relax and get close to nature. Five-color rice, Jianao goose, Shanlan wine and roasted mountain rats are even more mouthwatering and leave a lasting aftertaste. Jianao Miao Village has attracted CCTV programs such as ‘Chinese Flavor’ and ‘Intercity Games’, and Hainan Travel Satellite TV’s ‘Hainan Chronicle’ and other columns to come for filming one after another. In August 2015, the Organization Department of the municipal Party committee produced a special feature film ‘Red Party Flag in Miao Village’ to promote the work experience of setting posts and defining responsibilities for non-staff Party members in Huishan.
