Changtan Tourist Area is a nature reserve located in the northeastern part of Jiaoling County, Guangdong Province, just 5 kilometers away from the county town. It is a scenic area known for its landscape and Hakka folk customs. The area spans 40 square kilometers and features vast water bodies with clear water quality, earning the reputation of ‘mountains like the Wu Gorge, and scenery like the Li River’. In January 2004, it was officially upgraded to a provincial-level nature reserve with a total area of 5585.7 hectares. The area boasts abundant flora and fauna, including over 1300 species of plants, 26 ancient tree communities, and more than 2000 ancient and famous trees, with high air ion content reaching 166,500 ions/cm³. Transportation within the area is very convenient, with direct roads leading to the county town, 10 kilometers from the Jiaoling County exit of the Guangzhou-Meizhou-Shantou Expressway, 50 kilometers from Meizhou, and 485 kilometers from Guangzhou. It is a well-known tourist area in Eastern Guangdong and is open all year round, 24 hours a day.
