Jiaoshuikeng Primeval Forest is a small mountain village in Dashan Town, Chao’an District. For a long time in the past, the mountain village has been unknown. Many tourists from outside the mountains are attracted by the mysterious color of the primeval forest and come here to visit one after another. The forest area is nearly 5,000 mu. Among them, the dense forest of 500 mu around Heding Mountain belongs to the primeval forest and has never been logged. There are also 400 mu of ancient forests in patches in the forest. According to records, the ancient forests all have a tree age of more than 300 years. One pear tree is nearly 700 years old and its ‘circumference’ has reached 6.5 meters. Because the ecological environment is very ideal, there are also quite a variety of birds and beasts in the dense forest. Wild animals such as turtledoves, partridges, pheasants, colorful finches, thrushes, and hares can be seen frequently. Around the village, there are also 1,500 mu of contiguous moso bamboo forests, and the scenery is very spectacular. In addition, there is a pasture area of more than 1,000 mu on the southeast slope of the village. Jiaoshuikeng, as the name implies, is the sound of water. On the northwest side of the village, there are three longitudinally parallel mountain stream brooks, namely Mazhuhan Brook, Shibitouxia Brook and Guizhukeng Brook. There is a huge stone wall with a height of 71 meters at Mazhuhan Brook. Beside the west road of the brook, the stream flows down from the stone wall to form a waterfall; Shibitouxia Brook has a drop of 30 meters and forms a symphony. Wild and strange flowers are blooming all along the brook; Guizhukeng Brook has a total drop of about 15 meters and naturally forms six small waterfalls.
