Jiayizhuang is an ancient Hakka village with a history of more than 500 years. Most of the villagers in Jiayizhuang earn their living mainly by painting local paintings and growing oranges. Because there is a painting atmosphere in the village, it is known as the ‘village of peasant painters’. Longmen peasant paintings have a long history. With its unique painting techniques and distinctive styles, it is known as one of the three major folk paintings in China along with peasant paintings in Jinshan, Shanghai and Huxian, Shaanxi. In 1988, Longmen County was named ‘the hometown of modern Chinese folk paintings’ by the Ministry of Culture. During the Beijing Olympic Games, Longmen peasant painters created 108 Longmen peasant paintings with the Olympic theme reflecting rural folk sports competition scenes and landed in Beijing. An exhibition of these paintings was held in the Olympic Village. Opening hours: Open from 10:00 to 16:00 all year round.
