The Jindai Bridge is located in the middle section of Bai Causeway. It was formerly known as Bihan Bridge. Although it is not as famous as Broken Bridge, it has its own charming appeal. The beauty of Jindai Bridge lies in the connection between the inner and outer West Lakes by a single bridge. The blue waves are connected, but there are differences between the inside and outside. The small boat passes through the bridge opening with a creaking sound, gradually entering the depths of lotus flowers from the vast expanse of blue waves. The blue sky and water turn into a lively boat. That freshness and enthusiasm make people feel the vigorous vitality between heaven and earth. If it happens to be a drizzly day, the raindrops like pearls will patter on the awning of the cruise ship like ‘large and small pearls falling on a jade plate’, adding a secluded charm of ‘listening to the rain by Jindai Bridge and sleeping’. In ‘Fisherman’s Singing in West Lake’ by Xu Chengzu of the Qing Dynasty, there is a poem specifically praising Jindai Bridge: ‘The waves and mountains are gradually blurring. The Jindai Bridge is flat and enters the painting. Roughly speaking, I was a fisherman in a previous life. With a fishing rod and a pair of oars, I occupy West Lake.’ Open all year round and open all day.
