Jinan Zoo, located in the northern part of Jinan city, is one of the larger urban zoos in China. Here, visitors can see giraffes, hippos, chimpanzees, zebras, and various birds, as well as rare animals such as giant pandas, golden monkeys, Asian elephants, and white storks. After viewing the animals, guests can enjoy thrilling rides like the rapids adventure.
The zoo is lush with trees, featuring small hills, lakes, and rivers, providing an excellent environment for a family walk. It is advisable to enter through the east or south gate; the east gate leads to the amusement park first, where you can find a Ferris wheel, rapids adventure, roller coaster, and more. It is recommended to visit the animals early in the morning as they tend to be more active then, and use the afternoon for amusement park activities if time permits.
The zoo has a main tourist route that encircles the entire park. By following the path to the right, visitors can successively explore the bird area, the predator area, the herbivore area, the omnivore area, and other animal exhibits. The central part of the park also features a small animal exhibit. Sightseeing vehicles are available for those who prefer not to walk.
The aquarium and the amphibian and reptile exhibit require additional tickets for entry. The zoo is open all year from 06:30 to 17:30, with animal exhibits opening at 08:30.
