Jindai Street is located on the west bank of the Dongjiang River, constructed during the Ming Dynasty. The street is currently 300 meters long and 4 meters wide. It connects to the east city wall at Shuimen Road and is linked to the west city wall by the West Lake, resembling a ribbon, hence the name Jindai Street.
There are also legends that the street was named after gold belts buried beneath it.
