The Jingdezhen Folk Kiln Museum is located within the nationally renowned Hutian Kiln ancient porcelain site cultural relics protection area. Covering an area of over 400,000 square meters, the underground deposits contain a rich cultural legacy of porcelain-making history from the Five Dynasties to the Ming Dynasty (AD 907 to AD 1644). It clearly reflects the significant changes in the history of ceramic arts over these seven centuries and encapsulates the entire process of ancient Chinese porcelain-making history. It is a pilgrimage site for ceramic history researchers, ceramic art and craft enthusiasts, and tourists from China and around the world.

The Folk Kiln Museum not only houses a collection of various typical standard artifacts from different historical stages of the Hutian Kiln and precious cultural relics and archaeological specimens unearthed from historical archaeological excavations but also protects more than twenty valuable kiln sites and porcelain-making workshops from the important historical periods of the Song, Yuan, and Ming dynasties. It showcases the ancient porcelain-making scenes, allowing people to feel and touch the reality of history.

The museum is surrounded by twelve sites with an area of 260,000 square meters of ancient ceramic remains that have not yet been excavated, which have relatively well preserved the original historical appearance. These underground cultural deposits and the excavated and cleaned-up relics have become national key cultural relics protection units. They are not only valuable materials for the study of ceramic history and the history of human civilization but also available for visitors to tour and sightsee.
