Jinggangshan has glorious revolutionary history and gorgeous natural scenery. Jinggangshan is located in the southwest of Jiangxi Province, in the middle section of the Luoxiao Mountains at the junction of Hunan and Jiangxi provinces.
In ancient times, it was known as ‘the intersection of Chenzhou, Hengyang, Hunan and Jiangxi, and the belly of the Luoxiao Mountains stretching thousands of miles’. The Jinggangshan scenic area covers an area of 333 square kilometers and has 11 major scenic areas, 76 scenic spots, and more than 460 landscapes. Thousands of peaks compete in beauty, and thousands of valleys contend in flow. The vast forest sea, flying waterfalls and flowing springs combine majestic, perilous, secluded, strange and beautiful elements. There are peaks and ridges, rocks, waterfalls, karst caves, hot springs, rare animals and plants, and alpine rural scenery. There are magnificent sea of clouds, wonderful and unique waterfalls, magnificent sunrises, and the ten-mile azalea corridor famous at home and abroad. There are also the Huangyangjie and Maoping Bajiaolou known globally, as well as the main peak of Jinggangshan, which is the background pattern of the fourth edition of 100-yuan RMB. There are also 7,000 hectares of secondary virgin forest that is so far very well preserved at the same latitude in the world. There is also a piece of evergreen broad-leaved forest that is praised by the United Nations Environment Protection Organization as the only one in the world. Jinggangshan has a beautiful environment, charming scenery, and fresh air. The number of negative oxygen ions per cubic centimeter of air exceeds 80,000. It is called a ‘natural oxygen bar’.
