Jingxing Ancient Bridge, also known as “Jinhang Bridge,” is one of the six bridges that were part of the original Yanggong Causeway. It was originally constructed during the Ming Dynasty, with the current structure being a reconstruction from the Qing Dynasty. This bridge is a single-arch stone bridge, measuring approximately 6 meters in length and 2.5 meters in width. The eastern bridge eyebrow stone is engraved with the words “Jinhang Bridge.”
“The Record of West Lake Tour” provides an account of the bridge, stating: “The fifth bridge, facing the high peak to the west, used to have a temple of three sages. The poem says: ‘High mountains are admired, the journey of the scene is admired.’ It implies the admiration for the virtuous, hence named Jingxing.” This historical context gives insight into the bridge’s name and its cultural significance.
After the construction of a new bridge on Yanggong Causeway, the ancient Jingxing Bridge was preserved and restored. It is open to visitors all year round, with no specific opening hours, meaning it is accessible throughout the day.
