Jingyuan Garden, originally named Qianyuan and built in 1921, was the private residence of Lu Zongyu, the envoy of the Beiyang Government to Japan. From 1929 to 1931, the last emperor Puyi, along with Empress Wan Rong and Noble Consort Wenxiu, resided here. The name was changed to ‘Jingyuan,’ signifying a period of quiet observation of the political situation in hopes of restoration. The garden covers an area of approximately 3016 square meters with a construction area of 1900 square meters. It features a brick and wood building in the Spanish architectural style, with elements of Japanese wooden construction characteristics.
The garden is open to the public year-round from 09:00 to 17:30. Preferential policies include free admission for active-duty and disabled military personnel with their respective military IDs, free entry for disabled individuals with a ‘People’s Republic of China Disability Certificate’ accompanied by an adult family member, free entry for seniors aged 70 and above with ID and accompanied by an adult family member, half-price entry for seniors aged 60 to 69 with ID presented at ticketing, free entry for retired cadres with a ‘Retired Cadre Honor Certificate’ accompanied by an adult family member, free entry for children under 6 years old or under 1. 2 meters in height accompanied by an adult family member, free entry for tour guides with a valid guide certificate, and half-price entry for students aged 6 to 18 with a valid ID, and for full-time undergraduate students and below with a valid ID and student ID, and for Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan youth with a valid travel permit and student ID (excluding postgraduate students and above), half-price.
