The diaolou group in Jinjiangli consists of three attractive diaolous, namely Shengfenglou, Jinjianglou and Ruishilou known as ‘the first diaolou in Kaiping’. Ruishilou was built around 1923 AD. It is 9 stories high and 25 meters tall. It is the tallest existing diaolou in Kaiping. It is also a typical diaolou that can be inhabited and defended. Ruishilou represents the culmination of Kaiping diaolou’s architectural craftsmanship.
Both its overall shape and the details inside the building are extremely exquisite. The interior decoration of the building adheres to the Lingnan architectural style. Thanks to the strong financial resources of overseas Chinese in Kaiping, the furniture is made of materials such as rosewood at that time. After more than a hundred years of hot and humid climate in Lingnan, it is well preserved and has almost never been repaired.
It is really a rare architectural heritage.
