The Jinjiang Li Watchtowers Cluster features three captivating watchtowers: Shengfeng Tower, Jinjiang Tower, and the Rui Shi Tower, known as the ‘First Tower of Kaiping’. Constructed around 1923, Rui Shi Tower stands at 9 stories and 25 meters tall, representing the tallest watchtower in Kaiping and epitomizing a classic habitable and defensible structure. It showcases the pinnacle of Kaiping watchtower architectural techniques, with meticulous attention to both overall design and intricate detailing.
The interior decoration adheres to the Lingnan architectural style, benefiting from the substantial financial support of Kaiping overseas Chinese, and the furniture is crafted from materials such as rosewood from that era. Despite enduring the humid climate of Lingnan for over a century, the watchtower remains well-preserved and has rarely required restoration, making it a rare architectural legacy.Opening Hours: 09:30-17:35 all year round.
