Jinting Taoist Temple was originally the former residence of Wang Xizhi, a great calligrapher in the Eastern Jin Dynasty. Wang Heng, the third-generation grandson of Wang Xizhi, converted his residence here into a Taoist temple for cultivation, named Jinzhen Pavilion. Later, it was renamed Jinzhen Palace. In the seventeenth year of Yongchu in the Song Dynasty (440), Chu Boyu petitioned to change it to Jinting Taoist Temple. Originally, there was a statue of Wang Xizhi enshrined in the temple. There are also the Right Army’s Book Tower, the Playing Goose Pavilion, the Right Army’s Shrine, etc.
