Jinxiang Silver Beach is part of Jinxiang Town, Lu Feng City, Guangdong Province, located seven miles south of the city center, and is a constituent of the Jiashi Bay beach. Known as the ‘Golden Coast of Eastern Guangdong’, Jiashi Bay beach is famous for its combination of ‘divinity, sea, sand, and rocks’. As the sun rises in the east, the sea surface of Jinxiang becomes a magnificent scene of shimmering gold, with undulating golden waves, fishing boats, flocks of seagulls, and soft sands, all harmoniously blending into this picturesque scene, rich in poetic charm. The name Jinxiang Beach may have originated from this. Along the 18-kilometer ‘S’ shaped coastline, promontories and bays are interspersed, offering pleasing scenery, including the Jinxiang Cape and Guanyin Ridge. Here, the sea tides crash against the rocks, with swaying tree shadows and enchanting views. From a distance, the vast sea is dotted with sails, and the slender crescent-shaped beach within the cape bay, like a silver ribbon tied between the verdant earth and the blue ocean, forms a magnificent southern coastal promontory scenery. In spring and summer, Yunzhongju and Qiyun Palace, located on the main peak of Guanyin Mountain, are surrounded by clouds and mist; climbing and playing here feels like being in a fairyland of clouds. The gentle waves and mild climate, with an average annual temperature of 21.8 degrees Celsius, and seawater temperatures of 25 degrees Celsius from June to September, make it ideal for water sports such as swimming, windsurfing, and diving yachts. The seawater is clear, with a transparency of 50 to 90 cm, and free from ‘three wastes’ pollution. The tidal regime is regular, with 9 months of the year having wave heights below 0.4 meters, and an average wave height of 0.7 meters from June to August, making it an ideal place for water sports. The beach is 50 to 70 meters wide, with fine sand that is free from pebbles and shells, soft and non-sinking. The sub-tidal zone is composed of quartz sand, with a gentle slope, and the 2-meter isobath is about 200 meters from the shore. Hence, it is called the ‘Golden Coast of Eastern Guangdong Tourism’. In addition to its soft sand and clear waters, Jinxiang Beach is characterized by the unique stones along the shore, densely packed, stacked like millstones, resembling birds and beasts, white and brown, dynamic and static, with a thousand different shapes and extraordinary features, even the river and sea are full of rugged rocks. This gives Jinxiang Beach a unique natural beauty for developing beach resorts and tourist attractions. Among them are some famous ones: Dragon Stone, Zhenhai Stone, Longya Stone, Shuangdie Stone, Monk Stone, Penguin Stone, White Reef, and Wu Reef, with many well-preserved stone carvings left by our ancestors. Some of the boulders on Jinxiang Beach bear the footprints of proletarian revolutionaries, while others are shrouded in mystery. Open all year round, 24/7.
