Jinzhou Guanyin Cave Scenic Area Introduction

Jinzhou Guanyin Cave Scenic Area is located eight kilometers north of the ancient city of Jinzhou. It was first built in the Liao Dynasty and is famous throughout the world because the crown prince Yelü Bei once lived on this mountain for a long time. Originally named Putuo Temple, it is now planned into nine areas with 36 scenic spots, covering an area of 7.2 square kilometers. A cement road from Laolongwan Reservoir to Guanyin Cave has been built, with a total length of 3,274 meters. Many scenic spots and service facilities have also been completed, such as cable car ropeways, hotels, restaurants, etc.
The main landscapes include: East and West Fanlong Mountains, Guanyin Cave Mountain, Pingdingshan Mountain, Hongshi Mountain, Erlang Cave, Guanyin Holy Land, etc. Guanyin Cave combines strange caves, wonderful Buddhas, holy springs, and precious trees. It is a well-known tourist destination at home and abroad with the sound of Buddha spreading far and is also one of the top 50 scenic spots in Liaoning.


In Guanyin Cave, the peaks compete for beauty, and the caves are deep and secluded; there are clear pools and sweet springs, with the reflection of mountains in the lake; the forests are lush and green, filled with the sounds of birds and the fragrance of flowers. There are more than 50 landscapes that integrate nature and culture. Besides the Water Guanyin, the famous historical Buddha in western Liaoning, there is also the famous historical landscape in western Liaoning, Shipeng Songxue; the large-scale Guanyin Culture Exhibition in the country – Guanyin Holy Realm; and the Shitang Taoist Temple that integrates Buddhism and Taoism.


The scenic spots that are most beautiful in spring include Pear Blossoms Accompanying the Moon, Hongchi Liulang, Taohua Ancient Cave, and Cangshan Viewing the Sea; those in summer are Jinghu Welcoming Guests, Yuping Stream Water, Yunyan Waterfall, and Guanshi Luanshan; those in autumn are Fenglin Rising Sun, Green Pine Island, Yulou Listening to Cicadas, and Sea-Watching Guanyin; and those in winter are Shipeng Songxue, Cold Pool Reflecting the Moon, Chan Gui Descending to the Mortal World, One-Line Sky, Wanfo Hall, and Lingqiu Spring, etc.


Throughout the year, the sounds of morning bells and evening drums, as well as the chanting of Buddhist scriptures and praises, can be heard in places like ‘Yuantong Baodian’, ‘Dashi Pavilion’, ‘Eighteen Arhat Hall’, ‘Thousand-Handed and Thousand-Eyed Buddha’, and ‘Changxian Cave’. The water in Guanyin Cave borrows the beauty of the mountains, and the mountains rely on the charm of the water. They set off each other, showing their best features. In spring, the peach blossoms are like red rain; in summer, the greenery is dripping; in autumn, the mountains are covered with red leaves; in winter, there is the scene of pine, snow, and stone shed. Everywhere is like a colorful painting screen.
