Jiulong Grand Canyon, situated at the southern foot of Bafeng Mountain in Beijing Hengdian, spans an area of over 3000 acres. The canyon’s construction follows the natural contours of the mountain, with its landscapes crafted to harmonize with the terrain. The dragons’ heads and bodies are fashioned from reinforced concrete and are named in accordance with the ancient Chinese ‘Five Elements’ theory—’Metal, Wood, Water, Fire, Earth’—as well as the cardinal directions ‘East, South, West, North’. These elements combine to form nine majestic dragons that traverse the entire grand canyon.
