The Jiulong Hall, also known as Yuantong Hall, is the main hall of Fayu Temple. In front of the hall, there are more than ten ancient trees. Among them, two large trees (ancient ginkgo and ancient juniper) reach high into the sky. The ginkgo on the west side is about three people’s arm span in thickness and is over 500 years old. The Dragon and Phoenix juniper on the east side is old, strong and vigorous, coiling like a dragon or a python. It has a unique shape and is one of the more famous ancient junipers on Mount Putuo. On the three sides of the stone railing in front of the hall platform, there are engraved pictures of twenty-four filial piety, which are taken from the stories of twenty-four filial sons in ancient and modern times compiled by Guo Jujing of the Yuan Dynasty. (Filial piety and fraternal love are originally Confucian contents, but they are also described in many Buddhist temples). These reliefs have complete composition and smooth lines. They are excellent works of stone relief carvings in the Ming Dynasty and have high artistic value.

Opening hours: Open all year round from 06:00 to 17:00.
