Jiuquan is located in front of the Baixue Building, adjacent to the Shiwan Spring, covering an area of about 8 meters in circumference. Jiuquan and Shiwan Spring are separated by a natural rock. The gurgling stream from Shiwan Spring flows into Jiuquan, colliding with the spring water, creating a scene reminiscent of splashing pearls and jade. Within the pool, aquatic plants sway gently, lotus flowers embellish the water surface, and goldfish swim and play, creating an interesting spectacle.
It is said that in ancient times, a person who had tasted fine wines from all over the country without getting drunk, upon arriving at Jiuquan, drank the sweet and clear spring water and unknowingly fell into a drunken sleep. Upon waking, he realized that the water was so sweet and mellow that it was like fine wine, hence the name Jiuquan.
The spring is open all year round, accessible 24 hours a day.
