Jiuzhou Qingyan is located to the north of Zhengda Guangming Palace. It is the imperial bedroom for the emperor and empress. It is composed of several small islands around the Houhu Lake of Yuanming New Garden, forming an extremely beautiful shell pattern. Jiuzhou Qingyan consists of three halls. The first hall is Yuanmingyuan Yu, where the military system and equipment of the Eight Banners in the Qing Dynasty are displayed.
The second hall is Fengsanwusi Palace, where the scene of Empress Dowager Cixi’s first curtain listening to politics and the furnishings of the imperial bedroom for the emperor and empress are displayed. Then there is Jiuzhou Qingyan Palace. Here you can see the imperial study where the crown prince reads and the scene when the emperor has meals.
