Jiyan features an array of historical structures including the main hall, meditation rooms, scripture repository, incense hall, Xian Zhao Mansion, and Meng Pavilion. Near the temple, there is a stone chamber dedicated to the ‘Three Real Persons’. The temple buildings are predominantly constructed from rosewood, presenting an aesthetic akin to landscape paintings. Among the sites, Putuo Rock stands tall, with a large flat stone extending from the top, forming a natural pavilion that can accommodate hundreds for rest by the stream.
A few hundred steps away, two cliffs stand side by side, reaching for the sky, known as the ‘Heavenly Gates’. Near the gates, there is a Ming Dynasty inscription with the words ‘Ancient Jiyan’. The Thunderbolt Cave, seemingly formed by a lightning strike, contains stalactites and other geological wonders. The ‘Dragon Capital Ferry’ is a deep and unfathomable pool with rock walls resembling a coiled dragon, from which water springs forth, cold and clear, never drying up throughout the year.
