Kaifeng’s Chinese Han Garden Stele Forest

Kaifeng’s Chinese Han Garden is located to the east of Millennium City Park and close to Longting Park. The Chinese Han Garden is divided into two major parts: the garden area and the stele corridor. The Han Garden has two gates, the south gate is close to the garden area, and the north gate is close to the stele corridor area. There are also two small artificial lakes, Han Garden Lake and South Lake.

Tourists can enter from the south and exit from the north or vice versa, which is very convenient. When visiting the stele corridor in the garden, you will be shocked by the thousands of steles collected here. This is a relatively large private stele forest in China. You can appreciate the representative stele rubbings inlaid with famous calligraphers of past dynasties. At the same time, there is also a modern stele corridor inlaid with modern seal script, modern regular script, modern official script, modern cursive script, modern running script and other calligraphy styles.

Calligraphy enthusiasts can catch a glimpse of the artistic charm of contemporary calligraphy masters here. There are also international calligraphy stele corridors, painting stele corridors, children’s calligraphy stele corridors, etc. Various art activities such as painting and calligraphy exhibitions, painting and calligraphy competitions, pen meeting exchanges, and painting and calligraphy teaching are held irregularly.

In the garden area in the south of the Han Garden, artificial mountains, waterfalls, rockeries and islands are built, along with the rippling Han Garden Lake. The scenery is pleasant and it is especially suitable for relaxing. Tourists who like tranquility can stroll along the lake, enjoy the surrounding lakes and mountains, or take a cruise ship to enjoy the scenery in the garden. At the same time, the garden area sometimes stages antique performances with local characteristics (the performance programs and times may change, subject to the announcements of the scenic spot on the day).

Around the National Day every year, a large-scale chrysanthemum exhibition will be held in the garden, and tens of thousands of fine chrysanthemums can be viewed in the garden at that time. During the Spring Festival every year, the Han Garden will also hold a large-scale temple fair, which is filled with a strong folk custom atmosphere.
