Kecun Village is located in Haizhu District, Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province, China. It is one of the urban villages in Guangzhou. During the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty, the Li and Yan families moved to this place to establish the village, and the name of the village implies living as a guest in a foreign land. Nowadays, the majority of the residents are of the Wu family. It is likely that the ancestors could not have imagined that hundreds of years later, the name Kecun would acquire new connotations, making many young newcomers to Guangzhou feel fitting and amiable. Similar to Shipai, Kecun has also been home to some literary and artistic youths who have made movies and written books about this chaotic large village. How long one stays here or when to leave is uncertain for many. People come and go, but what remains constant is the kapok tree at the Kecun interchange. Kecun will always be Kecun. Open all year round, 24 hours a day, with specific business hours subject to the day’s opening status.
