During the construction of Keelung Port, numerous construction workers lost their lives in the line of duty. Consequently, a ‘Port Construction Martyrs Monument’ was built on the hillside between the third and fourth piers, comprising areas such as the approach path, memorial square, and the monument itself. The monument features intricate Western-style decorations, while the memorial square is designed for collective worship and to provide a space for quiet reflection and mourning. Standing at the monument, one can overlook the scenery of Keelung Port, making it an ideal viewing spot. As you watch the ships of various sizes entering and leaving the port, it is a time to remember and honor the great workers who sacrificed for the construction of Keelung Port. The monument is open all year round, accessible 24 hours a day.
