Kunyu Mountain is located in the eastern part of Shandong Peninsula. The mountain range spans the boundaries of Yantai and Weihai. Here, the peaks are continuous, the forests are deep and the valleys are secluded. Standing on the main peak, Taibo Peak with an altitude of 923 meters, you can overlook the mountains of Jiaodong. Walking in the mountains, you can enjoy the pure air. The clear springs and flying waterfalls in the mountains are refreshing. It is a summer resort. You can also visit the ancestral court of Quanzhen Taoism in this Taoist fairy mountain – Yanxia Cave and Shenqingguan. Kunyu Mountain tourist area is divided into five major scenic spots: Taibo Peak, Jiulongchi, Wuran Temple, Yanxia Cave and Yuegu Hall. Each scenic spot can sell tickets separately, or you can buy a general ticket for the five major scenic spots. However, there is some distance between each scenic spot, and there is no special connecting transportation. Therefore, if you want to visit all of them, it will take two days, and it is convenient to travel by self-driving or chartered car. Therefore, most tourists will choose to visit one or two scenic spots. Among them, Taibo Peak and Wuran Temple are the two scenic spots where more tourists come. The whole tour of Taibo Peak scenic spot takes about 4-5 hours. It is suitable for tourists who like mountaineering and fitness. The main way to climb Taibo Peak is by stone steps. The slope is relatively large and it is relatively tiring to climb. It is recommended to bring some water and dry food up the mountain. Standing on the top of the mountain, you can overlook the beautiful scenery of the mountains. It is also a good place to watch the sunrise and see the sea of clouds. However, there are very few scenic spots on the way up the mountain. From the gate of Taibo Peak scenic spot to the climbing entrance, it is still very far. It is recommended to take a shuttle bus (5 yuan/person). If you want to be close to water and escape the summer heat, the Wuran Temple scenic spot known as ‘Little Jiuzhaigou in the north of the Yangtze River’ should not be missed. Here, the forest is dense, and there are canyons and waterfalls in brooks and ponds. It is very suitable for playing in the water and escaping the summer heat in summer. There are also historical sites such as the ancient tomb of the King of Qi and Weiwodong in the scenic area. It takes about 4 hours to visit the Wuran Temple scenic area. Compared with the Wuran Temple scenic area at the southern foot of Kunyu Mountain, the Jiulongchi scenic area is closer to Muping. Climbing the small hills and enjoying the waterfalls here is a great feeling. It takes about 2-3 hours to visit this scenic area. Yanxia Cave is a scenic spot with a strong Taoist atmosphere. As the birthplace of Quanzhen Taoism, Kunyu Mountain still has many Taoist historical sites. You can enter Shenqingguan to feel the Taoist charm there. This Taoist temple with a history of more than 800 years still has strong incense. In the Yanxia Cave on the mountain, there are stone statues of seven real people of Quanzhen School. You can also take a look. Yuegu Hall is a relatively small one among the five major scenic spots. There are also some Taoist historical sites here, including Magu Temple, Sanguan Hall, Caishen Hall, Yue Lao Temple and other scenic spots. Although the scenic area is not large, the natural landscape is combined with religious historical sites, and there are not many tourists. If time permits, it is also worth a visit. On the fifteenth day of the fourth lunar month, there will be a lively Yuegu Hall temple fair. On the thirteenth day of the sixth lunar month, there will be a Jiulong temple fair.
