Langtou Village is located in Tanbu Town, Huadu District, Guangzhou City. It currently preserves nearly 200 complete Qing Dynasty brick buildings, including nearly 30 ancestral halls, study rooms, and academies, as well as three watchtowers and gate towers. The village also features over 20 ancient alleys, the historically significant Shengping Renrui Archway, and Qingyun Bridge. Known for its diverse ancient architectural styles, large-scale preservation of buildings, and rich cultural connotations, it is one of the largest ancient villages preserved in Guangdong to date. In 2008, Langtou Ancient Village was recognized as one of the first batch of 27 ancient villages in Guangdong Province. In 2010, it was rated as one of the top ten characteristic streets (villages) in Guangzhou. Upon entering the village, one can see a memorial arch, the ‘Shengping Renrui’ Archway, which is not ordinary, as it was bestowed by Emperor Qianlong to Lady Huang Cui. Following the main road, every few ancient houses, there is a study room or a private school. Whether it’s a study room or an ancestral hall, the architectural style is very rigorous, with wood carvings, brick carvings, and brick paintings. The village is open all year round, 24 hours a day, with specific business hours subject to the day’s opening status.
