The Lanting Calligraphy Museum is currently the largest specialized calligraphy museum in China, and it is also the first thematic museum dedicated to the ‘Preface to the Poems Composed at the Orchid Pavilion’, comprehensively reflecting the calligraphy and culture of the Lanting.
The museum has a total construction area of 12,191 square meters, with the architectural space divided into three levels. The first floor includes the entrance hall, basic exhibition hall, thematic landscape hall, VIP hall, lecture hall, and sales area; the underground floor houses the temporary exhibition hall and the boutique hall; the second floor is designated for office areas. The entire museum continues the characteristics of Shaoxing’s Taimen-style architecture, respects the features of Lanting, and is primarily gray in tone. The height, volume, and architectural form are in harmony with the surrounding environment and the cultural connotations of Lanting. Employing modern techniques and traditional sloping roof forms, the museum exudes elements of traditional culture and is an elegant, simple, and grand museum.
