The Taiqing scenic area is located at the southeastern end of Laoshan Mountain and is named after the Taoist temple Taiqinggong. It is mainly divided into two major tourist areas: around Taiqinggong and along the Bahe River. The former is located by the sea, and the latter is a mountain climbing route. The scenic area is mainly characterized by ‘Taoist holy land’, ‘small Jiangnan plant area’ and natural sea stone wonders.

Taiqinggong is a Taoist hall with a long history and large scale in Laoshan Mountain. It is said that it was built in the first year of Jianyuan in the Western Han Dynasty (140 BC), and it has a history of more than 2100 years. Taiqinggong is surrounded by mountains on three sides and faces the sea. Surrounded by Jufeng in the distance and seven peaks nearby, it blocks the cold air current coming from the north in winter, thus forming a unique subtropical microclimate and small environment. Therefore, there is neither severe cold nor intense heat. It is mild and humid, with lush and diverse plants, so it is known as ‘small Jiangnan’.
