Leizhou West Lake is abundant with historical sites. Su Gong Pavilion, with its four columns and double eaves, stands before a lotus pond and a stone statue of Su Shi. The Hall of Ten Worthies contains a stele inscribed by Wen Tianxiang and calligraphed by Yao Wentian, titled ‘The Record of Leizhou Ten Worthies Hall’, along with white marble line carvings of the images of Kou Zhun, Su Shi, Su Zhe, Qin Guan, Wang Yanso, Ren Boyu, Li Gang, Zhao Ding, Li Guang, and Hu Quan, known as the ‘Ten Worthies’.

Junyuan Academy is adorned with Lai Spring Well, Dragon King Temple, and the ‘West Lake Calm, Scholar Born’ archway, all scattered amidst the flat lake, willow banks, and winding bridges. A sizable amusement park is also constructed within the park. Standing on the Nine-Turn Bridge over the lake, Su Gong Pavilion, Biehu Pavilion, and Yingxiu Pavilion, one can overlook the clear lake, green willows, and the sparkling green waves.

This park, imbued with subtropical and Jiangnan water town characteristics, is immersed in greenery, with bright moonlight and a refreshing spring atmosphere. Originally named Luohu, Leizhou West Lake Park is located in the northwest corner of the ancient city of Leizhou, covering an area of over 90,000 square meters. Since the first year of the Qianxing period of the Song Dynasty (AD 1022), when Kou Zhun was demoted to Leizhou as a military aide and lived by the lake, followed by many celebrities who came to live and travel here, it became a famous scenic spot.

In the fourth year of the Shaosheng period of Emperor Zhezong of Song (1097), Su Shi, exiled from Huizhou to Danzhou, lived on the lake with his brother Su Zhe, enjoying the moon over the lake, and lingering without wanting to leave. To commemorate the traces of the worthy, Leizhou people changed Luohu to ‘West Lake’. The park is open all year round, 24 hours a day, with specific business hours subject to the daily opening conditions.
