Li Guangdi’s Former Residence is located in Hu’er Village, Hutou Town, Anxi County. It was initially built in the 37th year of Emperor Kangxi’s reign (1698 AD). It was the mansion of Li Guangdi, who was a grand secretary of Wenyuan Pavilion and minister of the Ministry of Personnel. The building area is 3,120 square meters. In 1986, overseas Chinese relatives, the Li brothers, funded its restoration.
After expansion and renovation in the early Qing Dynasty, Li Guangdi’s Former Residence has three consecutive courtyards. It covers an area of 2,000 square meters and is known as the “Grand Ancestral Hall”. It is the place where the Li family in Hutou offers sacrifices to their ancestors, clarifies clan regulations, and conducts clan affairs. The sacrificial ceremonies in spring and autumn are grand.

There is still an imperial edict from Emperor Yingzong of the Ming Dynasty preserved in the temple. In front of the hall of the second courtyard, there is a plaque inscribed with “Noble Character as an Assistant”, which was bestowed by Emperor Kangxi to commend Li Guangdi. In the middle of the hall, there is a plaque inscribed with “Zealous for the Public and Upholding Righteousness”.

In front of the hall of the third courtyard, there is a horizontally hung plaque inscribed with “Voice Reaching the Heaven”, which was inscribed and presented by Ye Xianggao, the prime minister during the Zhengtong period. Behind the hall, there is a plaque inscribed with “Protecting the Family and Expanding It”. It is suspected to be inscribed by Li Guangdi. There are also many resplendent pillar couplets in the temple, which have high cultural relic value.

It is open from 8:00 to 17:30 throughout the year.
