Liang Tang, situated in the West Lake District of Hangzhou City, is an ancient site dating back to the Song Dynasty during the Shaoxing era. Known as ‘an extraordinary place in West Lake,’ it was once renowned for the hundreds of plum trees that flourished in front of its hall. The site’s fame was further amplified during the reign of Emperor Gaozong of Song, when painter Xiao Zhao and Zhao Gou, also known as Emperor Gaozong, held a drinking and painting competition here.

Over time, Liang Tang fell into disrepair and was buried for centuries. It was not until 1924 that the site was reconstructed, restoring its former glory. On the west outer wall, visitors can admire nine stones inscribed with the handwriting of the legendary Yue Fei, a testament to the site’s rich history.

Liang Tang is open to the public from 08:30 to 16:30 every day, allowing visitors to explore its historic charm throughout the year.
