Lianhua Ancient Temple was first built in 1289, the 26th year of Zhiyuan Jichou in the early Yuan Dynasty. It was restored in 1985. On December 3, 1992, it was announced as a cultural relic protection unit by Chenghai Municipal Government. It was approved and registered for opening in 1988. Expansion began in 2000. It is located near the Zhanglin Road on the current Shantou-Fenghua Highway, turning west to Anhuang Highway, near the hot spring resort area. The transportation is convenient, there are many historical sites, and it is secluded and spectacular.
