Renowned Japanese ceramic artist Yuji Taruta’s first solo exhibition in Hong Kong will be held at Major Pop Gallery in Sheung Wan from November 8th to 13th, organized by HULS Gallery, which promotes Japanese crafts globally. Mr. Taruta, hailing from Seto City, a hub of Japanese ceramics, has mastered a unique technique called ‘Hotarubi,’ transforming light into beautiful patterns on ceramics. While traditional ‘Hotarubi’ technique typically features circular lattice holes with transparent glaze, Mr. Taruta innovatively employs fluid lines and delicate white porcelain glaze, creating a distinctive ‘Line Hotarubi’ style and breathing new life into the traditional method. These innovative works not only deeply touch the hearts of pottery enthusiasts but also resonate with art lovers’ appreciation for beauty. The exhibition will showcase never-before-seen new works in Japan, revealing the artist’s brand-new artistic realm. Additionally, the artist will personally demonstrate ceramic techniques, allowing visitors to experience the charm of Japanese craftsmanship up close. The exhibition is open from November 8th to 17th, with specific business hours subject to the gallery’s daily opening status.
